Our second time staying at the Cross Keys and it was an absolute delight. The staff were accommodating, even as late arrivers they made sure we were fed and watered - 30minutes after the kitchen closing with a delicious freshly made pizza each! Set in a beautiful location on a quiet road with quick access onto the motorway - a perfect stop off on our way to Scotland. We've been back twice now, first as a pitstop on our honeymoon and again on our wedding anniversary and we'll definitely be back again. Bed was exceptionally comfortable, bedding clean and soft and the rooms spacious and comfortable. All the rooms have such a rustic charm, fitting of the age of the inn which only makes the stay even more special.

Room was great for us staying - the main bed was really comfortable - the pull out sofa bed was less comfortable but kind of expected due to it being a pull out bed. We felt very comfortable staying with our dog. It was situated at the back of the pub so we weren't disturbed by noise from the pub. Enclosed area outside the door so felt that it was a safe space for dogs/children not to be straight out into the rear car park area. Food at the pub was delicious. Good variety and very fresh. During our stay we tried pies, fish & chips & fresh pizza and all very tasty. Staff were really helpful and pub seems very popular with locals too.

We had a lovely warm welcome and were shown to our room which was lovely. Had an excellent meal and drinks in the evening and found the pub lovely and quaint. Lovely friendly service. We had a breakfast bap in the morning, which was the best one we have ever eaten, very big and full of bacon and sausage . There was a good choice at breakfast, served by another lovely member of staff. Would definitely recommend and if we travel that way in the future would definitely book as brilliant value and so close to the M6.

The pub is in a 16th century building and many things (including floor) are not level but all appropriate electrical and plumbing is modernised to current safety standards. We dined in at the pub for dinner as well as the breakfast which was part of our tariff. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the atmosphere and both meals. It does not pretend to be 5 star. In a fairly remote village and that suited us as we're touring using a hire car and parking was no issue unlike many city based stays

The location of the Cross Keys Inn was ideal for us being just a short way off the M6 at the Tebay junction for an overnight break on our journey to Scotland. The pub is delightful with only a few rooms but extremely warm and welcoming, clean and friendly, helpful staff. Good food with great choices for breakfast. Excellent value for money. The area around the Cross Keys is beautiful and well worth exploring being between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales.
