What Guests Say

Property building in Cross Keys Inn

It had everything in one place. The staff were friendly and helpful. There was lots for the kids to do, the toy chest, darts, ping pong and the outside play area were well used 😂. Food was lovely and pizzas were that big we had leftovers for breakfast 😋. The rooms had everything we needed and the bed was really comfortable. We have booked again already!

We loved staying here, the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The room was fine for what we needed and clean. Situated about 25 minutes south of Penrith and in easy reach of the M6 so travelling around was fine. The pub was nice and welcoming, good food and some good real ale. Car park at the back so out of sight of the main road passing through.

We stayed in one of the Chalets , found it very quiet , peaceful , clean and comfortable . Was an exellent base for exploring lake district and the yorkshire dales . Was handy because close to motorway . Breakfast was brilliant couldn't ask for better. Very friendly pub and staff .

Fantastic staff in a lovely pub- Great ambiance and characters, and a Folk music session on of the eves while I was there. Rooms are comfy, and shower/bath have great pressure and temperature. Staff assisted and helped with any issues to the best of their abilities, and were wonderfully helpful and warm at all times.

A very convenient place to stop off for a night on our journey north. Easy to find, with plenty of parking, and room to bring our pedal cycles indoors, out of the rain. Friendly service, good food and drink, a comfortable room - just what we needed. After breakfast we went for a stroll. In the church next-door is a fascinating exhibition about Tebay in the days of the railway. What changes the valley has seen over the years!

Friendly staff, beautiful location, excellent food for both meat and veggie tastes, quirky bedroom that upheld the history of the building - but with 5 pints in you every floor becomes a smooth, flat walk again! Size of bedroom good, size of ensuite massive. A bath with hand held shower head was the choice, also a hairdryer. The t.v worked intermittently, prob signal, we weren't there to watch the box so not high on our priorities at all. Great tea/coffee supplies in bedroom, even with oatmilk and moo milk.

Our second time staying at the Cross Keys and it was an absolute delight. The staff were accommodating, even as late arrivers they made sure we were fed and watered - 30minutes after the kitchen closing with a delicious freshly made pizza each! Set in a beautiful location on a quiet road with quick access onto the motorway - a perfect stop off on our way to Scotland. We've been back twice now, first as a pitstop on our honeymoon and again on our wedding anniversary and we'll definitely be back again. Bed was exceptionally comfortable, bedding clean and soft and the rooms spacious and comfortable. All the rooms have such a rustic charm, fitting of the age of the inn which only makes the stay even more special.

This was a stop over on our way back down from Scotland. It was in a great location for us, just popping off the motorway. We were met with a very warm welcome and were able to check in straight away. We had our evening meal at the Chequers, which totally exceeded our expectation. Breakfast was of the same very high standard and cooked to order. Also, very dog-friendly.

We had a lovely warm welcome and were shown to our room which was lovely. Had an excellent meal and drinks in the evening and found the pub lovely and quaint. Lovely friendly service. We had a breakfast bap in the morning, which was the best one we have ever eaten, very big and full of bacon and sausage . There was a good choice at breakfast, served by another lovely member of staff. Would definitely recommend and if we travel that way in the future would definitely book as brilliant value and so close to the M6.
